Parade/Randomness

This last weekend the rodeo parade was held and we decided to take Bruin to it. It was so fun because he got to see cowboys on horses, clowns, old fashion cars, fire trucks, etc. He was so excited and paid attention the whole time. Here's Phil and Bruin looking like cool dudes at the parade

Also, my crib set came and I love it! (not all of the parts are in the pic)

Bruin is doing fine now in his big boy bed and sleeping just the same as before, except he won't seem to sleep past 7:30am. It's funny because every time I put him to bed he points at the door and says, "No no. Door." And I say, "That's right. No going to the door and no crying." He remembers every time on his own and it makes me laugh.

Of course, with Bruin in the crib you might ask, where is the baby going? Well, I found me an adorable bassinet on craigslist and made a place for it in our closet! I'll be moving out most of my clothes into Bruin's closet when the time actually comes but this will be little Crew's room for the time being.

I might need to put up some fun things to look at on the walls so he isn't just staring at clothes and boxes.

And today we picked flowers at grandma and grandpa's house. They have the best backyard and in a few weeks they will be loaded with boysenberries, apricots, cherries, and peaches. I can see everything budding on the trees right now and getting so excited! I love summer produce!

Also like to welcome Drew Reed Jolley into the world!

My older sister April had her baby on Sunday night and he is adorable! I can't wait to meet him and I think it's so cool that her Drew and my Crew will be so close in age :)
3 1/2 weeks left until D-Day! Yay!

Dear Diary

I couldn't sleep the other night and I ended up buying a crib set online. Isn't it fun?! I'm not into the cutsie teddy bear/baby cartoon things that most crib sets look like, and definitely not up to spending $200 on a designer one so I just never got one for Bruin. He had a white bumper and cream colored sheet. Done. But I saw this one online at Walmart.com for $69 and although its kind of a busy pattern and I'll probably substitute the striped crib sheet for Bruins cream colored one, I couldn't stop thinking about it cuz I loved how modern and gender neutral it was. Sooo out comes the credit card at 3 in the morning and bam... got me some bedding for the Casper posterity.

In other news...
I went to the doc yesterday, (gained another 5lbs but that doesn't matter to me anymore right?) and my midwife said as soon as my body shows signs of labor progress (effacement and dilation) she'll set an induction date with me. No sense putting me into a c-section situation and all. Sooo I'm cheering on my body and looking forward to my weekly appointments with those wonderful measurement checks they do...

As for Bruin, he is now sleeping in a "big boy bed" much to my dismay. We had to switch rooms with him last weekend so that we could have the walk-in closet for the baby and in the process Phil had to take off the front of Bruin's crib to fit it through the doorway. Well he discovered the toddler bed attachment to the crib and decided he'd put that on instead and tough luck mom, suck up the tears, his son will learn to sleep in a big boy bed. I am peeved but dealing and Bruin is doing so-so. He'll get up 2 or 3 times in the night and cry at the door but will go right back to sleep when you put him back in and sing a round of Old McDonald. My sleeping in til 8:15 days are over though and that makes a very unhappy me. Sigh. Someday sleep will enter my life again... I only have to wait, let's see 15 more years or so?....

And last and yes, least, Phil and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary yesterday. I say least cuz he was working out of town and I watched a movie in bed all alone. Lame. We'll at least try to go out on a date this weekend and get some PF Changs or something.
Now I must go and finish the movie I fell asleep watching before I get charged another Redbox dollar. Hopefully Bruin will stay in his bed his entire nap so I can finish it. Ciao!

Gorge

Brittney and Tyler decided to come visit us on their way back from their cruise this weekend and we have been loving spending time with them! This morning we had amazing german pancakes and then decided to head up to a spot in the foothills we'd heard about called the San Joaquin Gorge. The drive was a bit windy and longer than we'd anticipated and I admit I was grumbling about it but it ended up worth it! It was really pretty and we played around by the river enjoying the beautiful 78 degree weather. Phil and Tyler went and did some exploring on their own while Brittney and I helped Bruin throw rocks and sticks into the streams. He had a blast with it all.

Teaching Bruin how to spit off of the bridge into the water

On the way back we decided to take a different path because another hiker had told us it was a bit longer but less steep and since I couldn't imagine how I would possibly be able to do the steep hills, we opted to take the alternate route. Well it ended up being WAY longer and I think I was about to drop dead by the end. Luckily I have an amazingly strong husband who carried a sleeping Bruin all the way and found our car and drove back towards us so we didn't have to walk as far. It was still like a 3/4 mile uphill trail of switchbacks so we were sweaty and exhausted! I was just glad it didn't throw me into labor! (Maybe in 2 more weeks we can go do it again, with that intent...)

This was a little Indian Village they had set up at the beginning of the trail. It was so cool and I would love to go camp there this summer!

Currently the guys are golfing while Brittney, Bruin and I rest and then we're off to a yummy restaurant. They better get home soon cuz I'm starving!

Blocks

So I've been wanting to get Bruin some blocks cuz the poor kid doesn't have any. I've done my usual craigslist stalking but to no avail. So this morning I decided to get up and go garage sale shopping, hoping to find some. I scored! I forgot how much I LOVE garage sale shopping! Its so fun. And I was so proud of the stuff I found, all for the grand total of $4.10

I think Phil was more excited about the Fiddlestix than Bruin and played with them for like an hour. He did come up with some pretty cool things though including a sweet airplane for Bruin to play with (which he had to modify a few times to accomodate Bruin's poor airplane maneuvering skills... he kept breaking the wings off).

And here is an updated pic of my belly protrusion at 34 weeks

Letting Go

I am fat. My back aches non-stop. It feels like a watermelon is sitting on my bladder every time I stand up. I don't want to cook anymore. I don't want to clean. I don't want to play with Bruin and take him to parks. I don't want to watch what I eat. I just want to sit and wallow in my misery with my chocoate covered raisins and Mambas.

As you can tell its one of those days.

It actually started yesterday when I weighed in at my doctor's appointment. 149lbs. This means I have gained 28 lbs... and I still have 6 weeks left. It seems unfair that the pregnant women around me eat whatever they want and hardly gain a thing. They aren't hearing comments like, "Wow, that must be a big baby." or "You're almost there huh?... No? Two months left? Oh, well uh..." My sister's doc is actually telling her to GAIN weight. Now its not like I've been walking miles and doing yoga every day. But I HAVE been cutting down my servings and limiting my sweets. Well, forget it. I think I must just accept that I'm a 45 pounder pregnant person, not a 25 pounder. And if I'm gonna be miserably uncomfortable, I might as well have something to enjoy; MY FOOD.

As for Bruin? His activity with me today has been from the couch. I read him lots of books and watched a few cartoons. Then I gave him some pots and pans with some mixing spoons and told him to cook me something (he loves to pretend). I handed him a few spices from my cupboard and a bag of mixed nuts and let him go to town while I sprawled on the couch with a book. When that got old I pulled out coloring books and stickers. Any more ideas for the lazy fat mom?
And for the cooking and cleaning... Bahumbug, lets order in and live in chaos.
Oh my, how sad. I'm just sick of doing it all and being so tired and achey by the end of the day. SIX MORE WEEKS TO GO, HEAVEN HELP US

Garden

Today we "helped" my dad plant their garden. It was a beautiful day and I wanted to learn how to plant stuff so that I can eventually do it on my own when we have the space for it.
We planted cantaloupe, peppers, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, parsley, carrots, beats, zucchini and squash. Bruin just dug in the dirt and played with hoses which of course thrills him. Now the trick will be to keep him out of the garden when we visit grandma and grandpas!
Here are a few pics I got

And doesn't Bruin look so old in this pic?
